Whether you’re a city lover, country girl or anything in between—it’s hard to go wrong with this universally beloved footwear. I’m here to show you some real world examples of how I’ve styled ankle boots over the last several years that will address all of your styling questions.
Whether you’re heading to a fabulous brunch on a rooftop or you’re gearing up for a summer concert with friends, denim jackets are truly a closet staple.
I’m here to help you build your no-fail summer outfit idea library that you can return to as much as you’d like over the next few months so you can find style inspiration with ease.
Fashion Week
I’ve been attending New York Fashion Week for nine seasons as an intern, editor, freelance writer, and fashion content creator. After everything that’s happened since I last attended an IRL show in February 2020, before the world changed forever, I’m asking the question: do we still need fashion week?
Five things bloggers can do to network and stay top of mind for their brand partners as most designers are sitting out SS21 fashion week presentations.
I thought it might be fun to challenge some creators on Jumprope to make some tutorials recreating the looks from the runway at NYFW FW20. Alongside some other very talented creators, I decided to try my hand at recreating a bold makeup look and the show that I chose to focus on was Nicole Miller.
Everyone has different goals during NYFW (some people really just want to catch the attention of street style photographers!) but if you’re planning a trip to New York or you work in the industry and are able to attend the real benefit of NYFW is the networking opportunities.
This is a sponsored post in collaboration with Michael’s Consignment. I can’t help but think about how much fashion week has changed in the last 10 years. 10 years ago, BryanBoy and Tavi Gevinson sent shockwaves through the industry after snagging front row seats at shows and—wait for it—bringing their laptops…
We’re coming up on the end of another NYFW and wow I’m exhausted! JK, I’m actually writing this post a full week ahead of the chaos that is another season of shows and presentations in Lower Manhattan but I’m just going to assume that by the time you’re reading this I’m flopped on my bed somewhere…
I’ve been attending New York Fashion Week for five seasons now and this is the first time I’ve done fashion week completely on my own. Back when I was working at NYLON and Interview, I was able to attend fashion week on behalf of those publications. The invitations I received in my inbox were not only plentiful, but were also often first or second row seats.
Not even two days into New York Fashion Week, I already found myself in a state of exhaustion. Between balancing attending shows and the rest of my work, I have pretty much my whole day scheduled out including when I’ll eat and when I’ll sleep (if I don’t get at least seven hours, trust me I’ll be useless).
When I first fell in love with (and started interning at) magazines, fashion week was drastically different than the way it is today. New York Fashion Week was originally held in Bryant Park and was almost exclusively runway shows...
Styling Tips
I’m not someone who is able to live by the capsule wardrobe mindset (not for lack of trying!), but if I ever had to pair down my wardrobe, white boots would absolutely be staying.
When I first started re-blogging images on Tumblr and then “hyping” looks on Lookbook.nu (aka Fashion Instagram before Instagram itself even existed), I think the thing that I was looking for most in terms of fashion advice was guidance on how to style the items I already had. I knew that I liked certain pieces but couldn’t quite solve the formula for how to put them together.
I love the first week of November because it’s the time that autumn really hits full force in New York. The colorful leaves populate the city, we have no shortage of places to get a hot apple cider, and best of all we get to embrace fall fashion at its best moment before it becomes too chilly…
Shopping Guides
In official late summer fashion news, the satin midi skirt has officially taken over New York City. And everywhere else, also. This item of clothing has absolutely exploded over the last few months and they have seriously taken over.
Whether you are renting a house down the shore, traveling to a new destination, or attending a gathering with friends, there will always be some kind of need for a new dress and the only thing better than finding that perfect summer dress is finding it without handing over your entire last paycheck.
It seems like we are finally nearing the end of a long, albeit mild, winter here in New York and I more than ready to start dressing for a new season. Spring is actually my least favorite season because it feels like it only lasts for .02 seconds before we launch into a full-on heatwave…
We’ve made it to February but I am no less cold than I was in January. Even though I pride myself on not being an exact outfit repeater (I always try to vary one element to add something different to a look that I’ve previously worn) winter is the season where I most often find myself reaching for the same pieces over and over again.
As I think many of you probably already know, one of my favorite places to shop is of course the global shopping destination that is ASOS. Why do I love them so much? They’re super on-trend, affordable, and size-inclusive.
There’s no question about it—fall is my favorite season to dress for. The possibilities of layering and of creating interesting pairings of clothing together makes me smile and I love watching the leaves change colors and feel a shift in the air from steamy to chilly.
Ruffles may be one of the few trends that outlives the typical trend lifespan. Whether its a subtle extra flounce at the bottom of your skirt or if your shirt is covered in layers of them, ruffles will always be a way to add volume and depth to any outfit.
Last spring when gingham popped up out of nowhere, I recall rolling my eyes in a rather dramatic fashion. It's like the Miranda Priestly quote from The Devil Wears Prada but for the spring season. To me there was nothing "groundbreaking" about a print that reminded me of The Wizard of Oz, a film made in 1939.
You know what I’m going to miss the least about this seemingly endless winter? Wearing. Heavy. Coats. Don’t get me wrong, I love a fabulous winter coat—and bonus points if it looks like something Olivia Pope would wear.
If there's one thing I've gotten into more and more over the last year it's the bodysuit. Finding the right one isn't easy—sometimes it's the right size but it pulls, sometimes the neckline comes down too low, but when you find the perfect one, it can be amazing.
Whether you’re aiming for a bold, statement look or something a bit more classic and understated, these outfit ideas have you covered.
